The child who may one day succeed you as CEO – Leadership Breakfast
On April 9, Net4kids, Plan International, UNICEF Netherlands and War Child are jointly organizing the Future for Children Leadership breakfast, preceding the Leaders Summit at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht. Four organizations dedicated daily to children worldwide bring together their perspectives with those of entrepreneurs and business leaders. Together, we reflect on a question that is becoming increasingly relevant: what does the world look like in which children are growing up today, and what role can the business community play in their future opportunities?
What if you look at the world for just one moment through the eyes of a child? Then you will see that his or her dreams and cheerful thoughts about the future are not very different from yours when you were a child! So if your dreams were exactly the same as those of Sofi from Sudan, or Yet from Ukraine, what would ever stop them from becoming CEO of the best corporation three decades from now?
Therefore, there is no doubt in our minds: the future of children is not a byproduct of progress; it *is* progress. For a child, the future is not about markets or geopolitics, but about something much more fundamental: safety, opportunities, and the possibility to develop his or her talent. Worldwide, that future prospect is under pressure for millions of children due to conflict, climate change, and growing inequality. That is also an economic reality. Societies in which children are denied opportunities do not build stable markets, resilient workforces, or sustainable growth.
Leadership Breakfast:
We are therefore organizing a breakfast event on April 9 specifically for our business community, as a unique kick-off to a larger inspiring leadership event, the Leaders Summit. The theme of this day is “Future Proof your business”. We add a clear conviction to that: there is no future-proof business model without a future perspective for children.
During this intimate breakfast session, from 07:30 – 09:15, we bring together our business perspective with other leading children's rights organizations. We demonstrate why investing in children is one of the most decisive investments for the future of societies and economies. Following this, four companies, such as TUI and Plieger, that have already taken concrete steps, share how collaboration between NGOs and the business community can lead to structural impact for children worldwide. How can a company actually make a difference? What works in practice? And where do opportunities lie for collaboration between NGOs and the business community?
After a plenary opening, we will continue the discussion in smaller groups. These breakout sessions provide space to ask questions, share experiences, and explore together how entrepreneurs, business leaders, and civil society organizations can contribute to structural impact.

The Leaders Summit is an international leadership event where entrepreneurs, executives, and innovators come together to discuss how organizations remain future-proof in a rapidly changing world.
